Sri Lanka has an advantage over us in the series: Malik
Karachi, Jan. 20 : Sri Lanka will have an edge over Pakistan in the upcoming one-day series, captain Shoaib Malik believes.
Malik said Sri Lanka will have an advantage because they have played more international cricket than Pakistan.
"They have an advantage of playing more international cricket and have greater confidence levels than us," The News quoted Malik, as saying.
Cricket deprived Pakistan has not played any one-day game since defeating West-Indies 3-0 in Abu Dhabi in November last year, while Sri Lanka has participated in a tri-nation series involving Bangladesh and Zimbabwe since successfully defending the Asia cup last year.
Malik also said that it was very important for the team to play more matches at home adding that teams who have refused to tour Pakistan in the recent past past should take inspiration from Sri Lanka.
"It''s good that at least we are playing some cricket at home," he said.
Pointing towards the world-class spin duo of Muttiah Muralitharan and Ajantha Mendis, he said his batsmen could tackle the mysterious `carrom ball' of Mendis as they have a comprehensive game plan in place for it.
"I think Pakistan plays better against Mendis than any other team in the world, and we a game plan for the series," Malik said. (ANI)
