Marca, a Spanish newspaper was very critical of the Dutch team and called the team brutal, and using intimidatory tactics against Spain.

Every Spanish newspaper carried elaborate details of the night’s celebrations in every city and town of the nation. Each concluded that this win was much needed to lift up the spirits of the Spanish citizens after the recent economic crisis which has been keeping the Spanish people troubled for a while.
