Sony to update Tablet S, Tablet P and Xperia phones with Android 4
Japanese electronics major, Sony is panning to release the Android 4.0 update for its Tablet S, Tablet P and Xperia line of smartphones in spring, according to a report.
The two tablets are running Ice Cream Sandwich and are being tested for the new version of the tablet. Sony has not announced a release data for the update yet but it plans to add unique aspects to both the tablets over the Ice Cream Sandwich platform.
The Verge cited sources to say that the two tablets are currently being tested with the new version of Android. Sony tablets are already unique and different from other tablets in the market.
The company has confirmed that its entire 2011 Xperia phones will be updated to Android 4.0 at a later date. The models including Xperia Arc, Arc S, Play, Neo, Neo V, Mini, Mini Pro, Active and Ray, as well as Sony Ericsson's Live Walkman will receive Ice Cream Sandwich.
Other smartphone manufacturers including Motorola, Samsung and HTC have also announced similar plans to update to the latest version of Google's open source platform and have started the rollout of the new version to some devices.
