Sony Ericsson preparing for “Playstation Mobile phone”?
Struggling in the ongoing period of the global economic slowdown, the mobile phone manufacturer – Sony Ericsson seems to be devising new ways to grow out of the recession. Sony Ericsson's President, Hideki Komiyama has hinted about “Playstation Mobile phone”.
In a recent interview, Komiyama has stated that the company will not rule out developing a mobile phone based on Sony's super popular video game console Playstation. According to the President of Sony Ericsson, the “Playstation Mobile phone” could complement Sony Ericsson’s Walkman and Cybershot phones, which are already on the market.
Komiyama has said that “a PlayStation mobile, building on the Walkman and Cybershot phones, could happen”. Komiyama has asserted that if the company does not adapt to this new technology or new market environment, it is going to be loser.
Sony Ericsson is already marketing its gaming phone, F305 for £79.95. The Playstation Mobile phone is definitely possible. The phone could be based on either Windows, Symbian or Google Android operating systems. The news about Playstation Mobile phone has come coinciding with the announcement of the CEO of Sony, Sir Howard Stringer that the company is looking to expand its Playstation network beyond the PS3 gaming console environment.
Playstation certainly is one of the biggest hits of Sony’s innovations. The Playstation Mobile phone may go big hit like Apple’s iPhone. It will be interesting to see if the Playstation Mobile phone could do same of the company what Apple’s iPhone has done for Apple.
