Sony all geared up for a 25 million target
World's third largest TV maker, Sony targets to tighten its grip in the consumer electronics market via featuring at least 25 million television sets for the next fiscal year. This target sums up to a cumulative 65 per cent of the current figures.
The President of Sony's home-entertainment business group, Yoshihisa Ishida said, "We'll turn aggressive in the coming year and to achieve this level we have to pitch in higher sales target. In case of 3D sets, the sales accountability shall be approximately 10 per cent of Sony's total volume in the next fiscal year."
The company will launch its 3D TVs in Japan from June 10 and at around the same time in the US and Europe as well.
Osamu Hirose, an analyst at Tokai Tokyo Securities said, "Sony will probably boost sales volume but competition against South Korean rivals will likely make it hard to increase revenue".
Yet to release its final sales target, Sony will face huge competition from the number one maker (with regard to revenues), Samsung and the number two, LG electronics.
As the analysts predict, it won't be a cakewalk for Sony.
