Some models of Nike’s LeBron X shoes to cost nearly $300

Some models of Nike’s LeBron X shoes to cost nearly $300According to recent reports published in the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and other media outlets, Nike is set to break the $300 limit on shoes, with some models of the company's LeBron X basketball shoes to cost approximately $300.

The LeBron X shoes are named for LeBron James, the Miami Heat superstar who wore the shoe at the August 12 London Olympics encounter between US and Spain, and helped the US team score a 107-100 win over Spain to clinch the gold medal.

As per the reports, which have hinted at different price-tag and release date for the shoes, Nike's new LeBron X Nike Plus shoes will probably be equipped with motion sensors which will have the capability of measuring how high the player can jump.

While the WSJ report said that the Nike LeBron X shoes will be launched this fall and will likely bear a price-tag of $315; SportsOneSource analyst Matt Powell told ESPN that he expects Nike to manufacturer approximately 50,000 pairs of the shoes, and price them at $290.

In addition, Powell also said that it is quite likely that Nike will also make 200,000-300,000 pairs of the LeBron X without motion sensors; and will probably sell these models for nearly $175.

Nike's price increase for its 2003-launched LeBron line of shoes is a notable one, especially since the company originally retailed the shoes for

$110, but the cost has witnessed a steady rise to the present $250 retail price for the PS Elite model.
