Sofia Mayor Vasil Terziev Announces 10 New Metro Stations by 2027
Sofia is on track to see a significant enhancement of its public transportation infrastructure with the completion of ten new metro stations by 2027, as announced by Mayor Vasil Terziev. During a recent inspection of the ongoing metro extension project, Terziev highlighted the strategic importance of these stations, which are projected to accommodate nearly 46% of the city's daily passenger flow, underscoring their pivotal role in easing urban congestion.
Mayor Terziev, alongside Stoyan Bratoev, the executive director of "Metropolitan," expressed satisfaction with the progress, confirming that the project is advancing as scheduled. The new additions include three stations on the "Poduene" route, six along the railway station "Slatina" near Tsarigradsko Shose, and one on Pancho Vladigerov Blvd. along the "Slivnitsa-Obelya" line.
The extensions of Line 3, particularly from "Slatina" to "Tsarigradsko Shose," and the "Slivnitsa-Obelya" line, are both progressing steadily, with key milestones anticipated in 2026 and 2027. These developments promise to significantly bolster Sofia's metro network, positioning it as a more efficient and accessible mode of transport for the city's residents.
