In the recent times, the top scientists across the world have warned that the excessive use of social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter are making children self obsessed. According to them, the use of social networking sites together with video gaming is ripping the young brains of kids.

It has been found that about 750 million people across the world are addicted to Facebook and other social networking sites. While criticizing the social networking sites, Baroness Greenfield, former Director of research body at the Royal Institution, said, "Why should someone be interested in what someone else has had for breakfast? It reminds me of a small child (saying): Look at me Mummy, I'm doing this, Look at me Mummy I'm doing that".

The scientists from the Oxford University have gone to the extent of saying that too much access to social networking sites can lead to identity crisis among kids. The remarks by the scientists should not been taken lightly by the parents.

Previously, there have been studies which have linked social networking sites and video gaming with growing cases of obesity. But this is for the first time when scientists have issued such warning. They are of the opinion that Facebook arouses the urge of becoming mini celebrities among the kids.
