The SkyBet's iPad 3 prediction betting pool was briefly online when odds on some predictions went as high as 12 to 1. However, the site took down its prospective predictions after a few hours.
Predictions were relating to retina display, Thunderbolt port, an SD card slot. Most of the participats in the betting beelived that the new tablet will not be called, the iPad 3 but will be launched with the name "iPad 2s", much like the iPhone.
SkyBet has not said why it removed the page that included betting for the iPad features and it is not clear if the company will pay for bets that are already placed. There is a lot of speculation about a possible launch of the third generation of Apple's iPad on March during Apple's San Francisco event, for which the company had already sent out the invitation.
A Bloomberg News reporte has indicated that the iPad 3 might be launched in March with 4G LTE connectivity and will feature a faster processor and a higher resolution touch screen.
Sources said that iPad 3 is very similar to the earlier version except it is slightly thicker than iPad 2. Apple has not commented on reports about circulating a third generation tablet.
