Prague  - The Czech manufacturer Skoda has announced plans to build a station wagon version of the Superb for 2010 after the four- door sedan went on sale in Europe this month.

The Superb stands out with its new "twin door-concept" that gives it both sedan and hatchback characteristics. When the boot lid is closed, the driver can press a button which lifts the rear glass with the boot lid attached, turning the sedan into a hatchback for loading outsize cargo.

Boot space of 565 litres can be extended by folding down the rear seat to 1,670 litres.

In Europe the basic model sells for 22,990 euros (35,478 dollars). The most fuel efficient model the Superb Greenline sells for 24,890 euros. It is powered by a 105 hp diesel engine with a fuel consumption of 5.1 litres and carbon dioxide emission figure of 136 grammes per kilometre.

Skoda is also planning production of the mini SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle), the Yeti, which is based on the Roomster compact van, for next year. (dpa)
