Skeletal remains found in Everglades tested for any missing report

Skeletal remains found in Everglades tested for any missing reportThey are trying to match skeletal remains found in the Everglades with any reported missing persons, Broward County, Fla., authorities have said.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel has reported that detectives have been searching for Lynda Robin Meier, 40, missing for three weeks from her Hallandale Beach, Fla., condo, but the discovered remains appear to have been outside longer than that.

Hallandale Beach Police Capt. Sonia Quinones said on Monday, "Preliminary information tells us the bones may have been there for a few months. Nonetheless, we're still investigating."

The newspaper also said that identification of remains can often take months or years. Sometimes they are never identified.

The remains were found by a Broward man driving home from a family trip, and after recognizing human bones and clothing, he called the sheriff's office.

The Sun-Sentinel further reported that investigators said they could not immediately tell if the bones belonged to a man or woman, the age and race of the person, or how the person died. A forensic anthropologist will be called in. (With Inputs from Agencies)
