Six deaths take India's swine flu toll to 335
New Delhi, Oct 2 : Six swine flu deaths were reported Friday, taking India's deaths from the contagious virus to 335, the union health ministry said.
Of the latest deaths, two each were reported from Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka.
With its two deaths, the laboratory confirmed casualties in Maharashtra have gone up to 132, the highest among states. Karnataka is number two with 98 deaths and Gujarat has reported 34 deaths so far.
Also, the country reported 158 fresh cases of influenza A (H1N1), taking the overall figures of people infected by the disease to 10,533.
Among the states, Maharashtra reported 45 cases taking the total number to 2,907. With 36 cases, Delhi has reported over 2,730 cases so far.
Other states where new cases were reported were - Karnataka (24), Andhra Pradesh (17), Tamil Nadu (6), Kerala (15), Haryana (7), Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh
(two each), and Punjab, Chandigarh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh (one case each).(IANS)
