“Sinister designs” seen behind cops pulling England footballer Defoe again
London, Aug 18 : England footballer Jermain Defoe has been pulled over by cops again, days after announcing that he would sue them for "unlawfully" stopping his Range Rover and arresting him.
According to reports, Defoe was driving his black Ferrari home after visiting his mother when he was stopped.
Defoe's solicitor Nick Freeman said Defoe wanted to be reassured that the latest incident at around 11.15pm on Sunday wasn''t victimisation.
"At best, this is a cock-up. At worst, it smacks of something far more sinister. Defoe was stopped for no reason after leaving his mother''s house," The Sun quoted Freeman, as saying.
Meanwhile, an Essex Police spokesman said that Defoe was stopped in Chigwell as part of a routine operation to tackle a spate of burglaries and thefts of high-powered cars. (ANI)
