Simmtronics Intel Atom Mobile Netbook PC AnnouncedSimmtronics Semiconductors Ltd, a maker of memory modules, motherboards and graphics cards, has forayed into the Netbook arena with the launching of its first ‘Netbook’, which will hit the Indian market this year.

The new Simmtronics Netbook, which is based on the power-savvy Intel Atom N970 (1.6 GHz, 2.5 Watts) mobile processor, comes with a 10.2 inch screen and guarantees low power usage through superior Intel SpeeStep Technology.

Moreover, the compact Netbook permits users to carry out different jobs including streaming videos or music, accessing emails, Web browsing and instant messaging while on the run or at home or office.

Other technical specifications of the Netbook comprise enhanced low-power sleep states (C1E, C2E, C4E) plus design structure with L2 cache sizing for energy conservation by reduced electrical leakage in transistors.

The company has not disclosed Netbook’s distribution and marketing plans up till now due to the existing economic slowdown.

However, Simmtronics plans to roll out a complete range of netbooks in association with Intel, in India.

As of now, it is aiming to sell around 400 units of the Simmtronic Netbook by the end of December 2008.

Available in red, black and white colors, the Simmtronics Netbook carries a price tag of Rs 21,999.

The Netbooks will be retailed from December 15, 2008 onwards at Simmtronics’ 800 Direct Billing Partners (DBPs).
