Silver Slipper Casino to become 21+ property; parents asked to get babysitter

The Silver Slipper Casino Hotel, a gambling-friendly property in the southernmost part of Bay St. Louis area of Mississippi, has announced that it will entertain only guests aged 21 and older from 1st of July this year.

In addition to becoming a 21+ property, Silver Slipper Casino has asked parents to get a babysitter to take care of their kids. The casino’s management explained that the new rule regarding babysitting has been implemented in response to parents repeated failure in monitoring their kids. John Ferrucci, General Manager for the casino, pointed out that the property was recently cited by the Mississippi Gaming Commission for unsupervised kids.

When asked for a comment, Ferrucci said, “They cannot be left unattended at all. I’m not doing it anymore. We invite parents to come back when they have a babysitter.”

Announcing the changes, the general manager also declared that no one under the age of 21 years will be allowed to access the Silver Slipper resort after the end of this month. It may be noted here that Mississippi gaming laws don’t allow any person under the legal drinking age (21 years) from being on a casino floor. To access the resort’s restaurants and buffet, Silver Slipper’s guests have to walk a designated corridor next to the slot machines and table games.

Silver Slipper isn’t the only gaming property in the state that has been reserved for gaming enthusiasts aged 21 and older as Treasure Bay in Biloxi and Island View in Gulfport also fall in the same category.

Ferrucci admitted that going adults-only was a difficult decision to be taken by the management. He explained that patrons may be asked to show their identification cards to confirm their age before entering the building. Those who will fail to show a proper I.D. won’t be allowed to enter.

The general manager of the gaming property also claimed that feedback about the upcoming age restrictions from the guests has been quite positive.

Located nearly eight miles south of downtown Bay St. Louis, Silver Slipper is a remote casino adjacent to Hancock County Marsh Coastal Preserve spanning 500 acres of land. While hotel of the resort presents 129 well-equipped guestrooms, its 39,000-square-foot gaming floor offers as many as 750 slot machines, 23 table games, and a state-of-the-art sportsbook.
