Should People Rely On Sat nav?

Should People Rely On Sat nav? The recent surveys conducted on multinational sat nav have revealed that it may have actually caused 30,000 accidents. The users usually rely blindly on the sat nav, and thus switch off their common sense. The survey done by insurance firm Direct Line showed that one in five motorists hesitate using the gizmo on a busy traffic road, as it made them lose the track of the road. One in 50 think that they faced or almost faced an accident while the using sat nav technology.

Recently, Necdet Bakimci, a Syrian Lorry driver who was taking a Cargo of luxury cars from Turkey to Gibraltar and relied on set nav to reach his destination ended up at Skegness-1,600 miles and several countries adrift from Gibraltar

When it stuck to him that he was on the wrong path, it was already too late since the lane was too narrow and thus the lorry was struck. It took around an hour for the man to turn his lorry around. The panicked man took help of the people who were passing through that road. He was then helped by Steven Humphrey’s who solved the driver’s problem with the help of his laptop. Bakimci, then realized the right way to Coral Road, Gibraltar.

The shocked Bakimci then straightway led to his home, while delivery firm based in Antakya, Turkey arranged for the cars to be shipped to the correct destination from Birmingham.

This small incident is evident enough that most people think that while using sat nav, they don’t even need to know that where they are going, since they believe that the gizmo will head them to the right place. The assumption is absolutely false, as many incidents such as mentioned have come forward while using sat nav.
