Sharing files just got easier

Sharing files just got easierGoogle Inc. has launched a new mode of file transfer. This would be done through iGoogle and Orkut chat. It is believed that it is a mode to keep the social networking alive and 'kicking'.

Orkut, Google's social networking site has a presence in countries like Brazil, India etc., strives hard to make its mark. To aid this, Google has introduced the new facility. Earlier, it was a part of the basic features in chat messengers.

Presently, file sharing is used by AJAX-based customizable start page service.

But, for using this facility, a user has to be registered with Google and/or Orkut.

The service provides an ease while sharing files. This can be done with photos, audio, video, documents etc. All one needs to do is just use the 'Send a File' option in the 'Actions' menu while chatting on Orkut and iGoogle.

No third party software installation is needed. At the same time, users can also initiate video chat with their Orkut buddies by clicking on the blue camera icon, which obviously requires a little tweaking with the setting option.
