Seoul  - Shares nosedived Tuesday on the Seoul stock exchange, tracking losses in the US market. South Korea's won continued to devalue against the dollar.

The benchmark Kospi index fell 42.16 points, or 3.9 per cent, to close at 1,036.16.

Declining issues outnumbered advancers 631 to 194.

The main index of the technology-heavy Kosdaq market fell 9.72 points to 305.26.

On currency markets, the US dollar was quoted at 1,448.0 Korean won, after 1,409.0 won on Monday. (dpa)
