She’s ramp model; she’ll make her silver screen debut opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Yashraj movie "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi"; well, she’s Anushka Sharma, 19-year-old beauty from Bangalore. Her announcement was made yesterday by Yash Chopra, the Chairman of Yashraj Films.

Mr. Yash Chopra said, "Hopefully, the announcement will end all the speculation and conjecture that had started about the identity of the female lead ever since the film was announced.”

"We were looking first and foremost for someone who could truly embody the spirit of small town Punjab and we know we have found her in Anushka. And while she has no previous acting experience, we have seen that unique spark in her that makes us confident that she will be a standout even opposite Shah Rukh," said the veteran film maker.

Yashraj Films earlier considered Sonam Kapoor, daughter of Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor for the role, but the Bangalore girl was charming enough to impress Chopras. With "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi," Aditya Chopra, who directed Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Mohabbatein, and produced many more blockbusters, is taking the directorial reins after eight years. The shooting of 'Rab ne Bana di Jodi' will start on May 16 and the movie will hit theatres worldwide on December 12.
