Beijing  - Seven Chinese steel workers were killed and 10 seriously injured in a gas leak from a furnace at a steel plant on Wednesday, reports said.

The official Xinhua news agency said the accident occurred in the city of Zunhua, about 150 km east of the capital Beijing.

Authorities ordered a halt to production at the plant. The cause of the gas leak was being investigated. (dpa)
