Security beefed up on Indo-Nepal border

Security beefed up on Indo-Nepal border Maharajganj (UP), Mar 30 : Security along the India-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh has been beefed up ahead of the upcoming general elections.

According to Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), security has been beefed up and precautionary steps are being taken to ensure peaceful elections.

The security personnel are keeping a close vigil on people crossing the border by checking their belongings.

"We have been instructed that in your area you have to do patrolling during the day and at night checking the check posts so that the people may know that we are present for their security and they should not face any difficulties. Every suspected person will be checked. If we receive any necessary information, we will inform it to the higher levels. And for this we are very much alert," said Shailendra Kumar Singh, Assistant Commandant, SSB.

Besides, the SSB and Uttar Pradesh Police together have started a joint-operation to arrest the cross border criminals.

"Ever since election campaigns started, the administration has become quite attentive. The SSB is checking every car and every pedestrian who is carrying any bags along with them," said Jainarayan Singh, a resident.

Near the Sonauli border in Maharajganj district, around 18 border outposts have been placed.

Authorities are also stepping up security for political leaders, fearing possible militant attacks as the general election approaches. (ANI)
