Secret ballot can bring unexpected results: Justice Wajihuddin
Peshawar, Oct 5 : Justice (retired) Wajihuddin Ahmad, lawyers' candidate for the presidential election, has said that a properly established secrecy of ballot during the presidential poll could bring about unexpected results.
"The Election Commission should ensure that no secret camera be installed near the ballot boxes besides the electorates be restrained from bringing with them cell-phones, having built-in cameras," Justice Wajihuddin said.
He hoped that most of the lawmakers would vote in his favour if they were allowed to use their right to vote according to their conscience.
Referring to the growing trend of militancy in the country, Justice Wajihuddin blamed Musharraf for espousing local Taliban in a bid to make the West believe that Pakistani society was confronted with the radicals, who could be contained only by an army-backed ruler.
Justice Wajihuddin said that the detailed verdict of Justice Falak Sher in the dual office case had turned the number of judges into four who gave dissenting judgement in the case, The News reported.
He also came down hard on the Chief Election Commissioner for what he said siding with Musharraf by letting him run for the presidential election in uniform.
Justice Wajihuddin said that all the contestants should have been given the chance to address the Parliament and provincial assemblies so that they could make their voters aware about their future programmes. (ANI)
