Scrabulous blocked due to legal battle with Hasbro
Scrabulous would no longer be available from face book. It is exterminated from USA, Canada,UK and Australia. The rights to the Scrabulous IP are held by Mattel Inc. The company had blocked the access for U.S. and Canadian people in the month of July this year. It was blocked following legal battle between Hasbro and Scrabulous creators Rajat Agarwalla and Jayant Agarwalla. Hasbro is a creator of the on board game Scrabble while "Scrabble" is an internet base online game.
Hasbro alleged that the name "Scrabulous" is quite resemble with "Scrabble" and would create confusion among people. They also alleged that rules of games are also somewhat similar to their product. The appearance of tiles and the way of earning quadruple points is also almost similar to Scrabble game.
The face book has decided to allow people to enjoy the game till the final decision of the court. Agrawalla said that it is not fair for face book to block the access as it knows the circumstances under which Mattel Inc sued them in the court. He expected that the Face book will behave as neutral party in the entire case.
