Scope Original Mint Mouthwash recalled

Scope Original Mint Mouthwash recalledDue to a failure of child-resistant caps, the U. S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Scope Original Mint Mouthwash.

It has been reported that about 35,000 bottles of the mouthwash in 1-liter bottles were manufactured by Procter & Gamble of Cincinnati and sold nationwide from January 2010 through June 2010 for about $4.

The ingredients of mouthwash include ethyl alcohol.

The commission said in a statement that the child-resistant lids could malfunction and the bottles lack a label that explains, "This Package for Households Without Young Children."

The recalled bottles have the number 4 printed on the bottom.

According to the commission officials, consumers were advised to test the cap. If the cap can be removed by twisting, as opposed to squeezing and twisting, it is not child-proof.

It has further been reported that consumers were advised to keep the mouthwash away from children. Consumers who expected the product to be child-proof were also advised to return the mouthwash for a full refund or a replacement coupon. (With Inputs from Agencies)
