Schlierenzauer clinches sixth straight win
Klingenthal, Germany - Gregor Schlierenzauer of Austria claimed his sixth straight ski jumping victory on Wednesday to increase his overall World Cup lead.
Schlierenzauer jumped 131.5 metres and 135 metres for 261.2 points to edge Anders Jacobsen of Norway (135m and 131m) on 260.3 points
Austrian Wolfgang Loitzl, the Four Hills winner, was third with 257.1 points (134m/130.5m).
It was the 10th win of the season for Schlierenzauer who moves to 1,620 points after 20 of 27 events, with Simon Ammann of Switzerland on 1,368 and Loitzl on 1,242.
His sixth successive win matches the record held by Finnish duo Janne Ahonen and Matti Hautamaki in 2004/2005 and Austrian Thomas Morgenstern in 2007/2008.
It was the third event of the Team Tour led by Austria (1,920.7 points) ahead of Norway (1889) and Finland (1,707.7). (dpa)
