SAP to increase headcounts in India, China

SAP to increase headcounts in India, ChinaGerman business software maker, SAP AG is planning to increase headcounts in emerging Asian giants, India and China, according to a senior company official.

Stephen Watts, president of SAP Asia-Pacific and Japan was speaking at the Reuters China Investment Summit when he also said that the company is open to new acquisitions in the region.

Even as the company has seen only a little impact of economic woes in the US and European markets, it is expected more revenue to be generated in Asia in the coming quarters.

"In your question are we open to acquisitions in Asia? Yes we are. We are most certainly open to acquisitions, but it has to bring incremental innovation to the customer. That is the first absolute go, no-go," Watts said.

SAP has been expanding its footprint with acquisitions including that of Sybase and Business Objects. It compared with the likes of Oracle Corp in the global market for business focused software rpogrammes. SAP focuses on designing software, databases and workflows for corporations.

Last year the Asia-Pacific and Japan regions accounted for about 15 percent to the company's total revenue totaling 525 million euros.
