Sandra Lee discharged from hospital following surgery for infection
According to reports, Sandra Lee who is television host and companion of Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo of New York since long, has been released from hospital on Wednesday. According to her spokeswoman, she underwent a double mastectomy for breast cancer several months after her surgery for a persistent infection.
Reports say that Ms. Lee’s staff has reported in a number of postings on Facebook that the operation took over two hours. It was performed at Mount Sinai Roosevelt in Manhattan on Tuesday and “went very well”. After leaving the hospital, she was having plans to go back to the home in Westchester County, where she is living with Mr. Cuomo, however she will keep on receiving large doses of antibiotics.
When she was hospitalized, it came as a sudden setback in her fight for recovering her health following learning that she had breast cancer. In May, she had a double mastectomy, however this month she was hospitalized with an infection.
Lee posted a note on Facebook, in which she said that she and Mr. Cuomo had thought about surgery so as to fight the infection; she called it an “incredible monster.” Both are seen together in a photograph in the post.
According to Lee, “I am a long way from where I was and a long way from where I need to be but at this point I understand that right now I just need to complete this unexpected phase of a tough journey”.
