Samsung launches world’s first ‘Solar-powered Mobile Phone’Consumer durables major Samsung India Electronics Ltd, has informed on Wednesday that it has launched the world's first solar-powered mobile phone christened 'Solar Guru E1107', in the domestic market.

The company claims that, it has developed the latest handset by keeping in mind the needs of Indian consumers, especially customers residing in areas where the electric supply is unstable.

Further the company notified that, the handset takes 40 hours for solar panels to get fully charged, and once charged, it will deliver 12-hour long talk time. The phone has the capacity to provide around 5-10 minutes of talk time with one hour of solar charging, apart from the normal electric charging.

The phone which has a 1.52-inches 65K CSTN screen, includes feature like FM Radio, MP3 ring tones, embedded games, torch light, Mobile Tracker, Fake Call.

The handset will be available in the Indian market from the middle of this month. Apart from India, the company intends to launch 'Solar Guru' in Europe, Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia and Latin America.

The company has fixed price tag of Rs 2,799 for 'Solar Guru' in the Indian market.
