Samsung to invest Rs 100 crore in India
Samsung India Electronics would invest around Rs. 100 crore in the country, in a bid to further expand its business. It will invest in modules and purchase equipment and machinery, besides increasing the capacity of its plant located in Noida to one million units from six lakh units.
R. Zutshi, Deputy Managing Director of Samsung India, while launching a fully automated washing machine, said that the firm has set a turnover target of Rs 10000 crore for the current financial year.
Mr. Zutshi said: “While the industry is witnessing 10 per cent Samsung is expecting 31 per cent growth.”
The firm expects a boost in washing machine sales to 2.4 million from 2.2 million in 2008. Its had sold six lakh washing machine units last year, and hopes to sell eight lakh units in the current financial year.
Its revenue stood at $1.5 billion during 2008; and its growth rate is likely to remain at 30 per cent in the current year against 25 per cent last year.
