The top seeded Dinara Safina has stormed into the third round of the women's singles event of the Wimbledon tennis tournament in London.

Safina, the world no 1, has defeated Paraguay's Rossana De Los Rios, world no 100, in straight sets by 6-3, 7-5 in the second round of the Wimbledon tennis tournament on Thursday.

Safina won the first set quite easily but there was a tough competition between Safina and Rossana in the second set as set went to tie-breaker.

Safina, who had not won any Grand Slam title till now, won the first set in just 35 minutes while Safina took one hour and 22 minutes to win the match.

Safina will now play against Belgium's Kirsten Flipkens in the third round of the Wimbledon tennis tournament.

Meanwhile in another match French Open champion Svetlana Kuznetsova has defeated France's Pauline Parmentier 6-1, 6-3 and advanced to the third round of Wimbledon championship on Thursday.
