''Saddened'' Prime Minister Gordon Brown pays tribute to Jade Goody
London, March 23 : British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has paid tribute to Jade Goody, saying her death had left him "saddened".
The leader of the Labour Party paid his respects to the 27-year-old, who slipped away peacefully on March 22 in her sleep, while mum Jackiey Budden and hubby Jack Tweed held on to her hands.
The Brit reality star, who was diagnosed with cervical cancer last August, had planned her last weeks carefully before losing her battle with the disease on Mother's Day.
The mum-of-two had tied the knot with Jack in a fairytale ceremony on February 22, and had herself and her sons, Bobby, 5 and Freddie, 4 baptised on March 7 in the chapel of London's Royal Marsden Hospital.
Jade even secured her kids' future through magazine and TV deals to provide for her lads after her death.
The brave star was granted her last wish to spend her finals days at her Essex home, surrounded by her family.
And it was her spirit and determination that the Prime Minister hailed in his tribute.
"I was deeply saddened to hear the news of Jade Goody's death," the Sun quoted him as saying.
"She was a courageous woman both in life and death and the whole country have admired her determination to provide a bright future for her children.
"She will be remembered fondly by all who knew her and her family can be extremely proud of the work she has done to raise awareness of cervical cancer which will benefit thousands of women across the UK.
"Every death from cancer is a tragedy and my thoughts go out to her two sons, husband and family at this time," he added. (ANI)
