Sachin Tendulkar joins Sania to promote Sunfeast Open
Kolkata, Sept.18: The Sunfeast Open glamour quotient is at a high. Cricket star Sachin Tendulkar arrived here today to promote the WTA Tier III tournament. Addressing a joint press conference with Sania Mirza, Tendulkar said he was a great fan of tennis and loved to play it too.
Tendulkar refused to talk much on cricket, but said it was for the selectors to decide on who would be the next captain of the Indian team.
As far as he was concerned, the little master said playing good cricket was all that mattered to him. He also had a word of praise for Team India's performance in the Twenty-Twenty series. He said the team had been playing well.
Sania Mirza said she was always inspired by Tendulkar. Mirza, who has opted out of the Sunfeast Open due to a wrist injury, said she admired the way Tendulkar played under pressure even when going through an injury phase.
Commenting on the drop in her world ranking following her decision to opt out of the tournament, the tennis star said she would rather be fully fit and playing well than taking chances with her injury just to maintain her ranking.
Tendulkar is slated to entertain fans at the Netaji Indoor Stadium this evening with a session of tennis. (With Inputs from Ajitha Menon and ANI)
