Russell Brand set to earn £10M from films
London, Nov 24 : English comedian Russell Brand has hit the jackpot after resigning from his 200,000 pounds-a-year Radio 2 show, and joining the movie industry where he stands to earn 10million pounds.
Brand, 33, who has become quite popular, was bombarded with offers from Hollywood studio chiefs who see him as a unique new talent, and the films he has already signed up for will be netting him 5million pounds.
And he will be able to make the other 5million pounds if he signs up for Pirates Of The Caribbean 4, in which he will be playing the brother of Johnny Depp’s character Captain Jack Sparrow.
“There are so few stars in Hollywood who are both sexy and funny but this guy is like a cross between Brad Pitt and Woody Allen,” the Daily Star quoted a movie studio executive as saying.
Christine Spines of leading US showbiz magazine Entertainment Weekly said last week that Brand was refreshing.
“This British comedian is a refreshing, rakish alternative to his shlubby American counterparts. A year ago he was a nobody here but now he’s exploded into the showbiz universe,” she said.
And Brand is planning to have a long and prosperous career in the movies.
“I’m an egotistical man. If I’m only in it for a short time, it’s almost worse than not being in it at all,” he said. (ANI)
