Rohit Bal to do WIFW grand finale in flamboyant style New Delhi, Oct 6 : He is known as the master of fabric and fantasy. Given this, flamboyant designer Rohit Bal is all set to present his opulent collection at the grand finale of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) here Oct 28.

This is the second time Bal has been chosen as the grand finale designer of WIFW that is organised by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI).

"I am very happy to back again with WIFW and it is an honour that they have chosen me at a time when there is coming together of fashion weeks and we can say there is just one fashion week," Bal told IANS here Tuesday.

Bal had been showcasing with the other fashion body Fashion Foundation of India's Delhi Fashion Week(DFW) for its two editions. Now with DFW no more on the scene, the fashion fraternity has joined hands and opted for a joint platform - WIFW - to showcase their creativity.

Talking about the choice of Bal as the grand finale designer, FDCI president Sunil Sethi said: "He was the obvious choice. He has been in this industry for 19 years and has always been associated with grandeur. With the design fraternity coming together, he was the apt choice because his grand collections go well with the grand fashion event that we have put together."

Bal's collection for the grand finale is called "Yasas" which in Sanskrit means grand.

Talking about his collection, Bal said: "The collection is a reflection of incredible talent that we have in India in terms of artisans and craftsmanship. The line is an ode to India's rich heritage."

"It is about India, which was once known as 'Golden Peacock'. Through this line, I bring that golden era back to India. But there will surely be those whimsical moments in this line. After all, that is what I am known for," he added.

The collection has a mix of brocades, velvets in the pre-Mughal and Mughal designs like long and short anarkalis, sherwanis and much more.

The collection will later be retailed through main sponsor Wills Lifestyle outlets across India

"The WIFW grand finale has always set new benchmarks in creativity and has been a great mix of entertainment and fashion," Wills Lifestyle divisional chief executive Atul Chand said.

"This season too, with a designer like Bal, we are taking the same tradition forward and will create magic on the ramp in our signature style," he added.(IANS)
