Resources for mental Health remain very small across globe
A new report has unveiled that mental healthcare across globe is in a poor state. Nearly one in 10 people suffer from a mental health disorder. Worldwide median for mental health workers as per the report is 9 per 100,000 people.

The World Health Organization has published the report, the Mental Health Atlas. It is the fourth part since it was introduced in 2001. In order to come up with the report, the WHO has sent a questionnaire to its 194 member countries and out of them, 171 took part in it.
In 2014 the survey was carried out which included questions like prevalence of mental health care workers, time spent on mental health and government prevention programs among other measures.
The researchers came to know that richer nations have more number of mental hospital beds and admission rates than low-income countries, which have around 42 beds and 142 admissions per 100,000 population.
Nations like North Korea, Eritrea, Haiti and Morocco spend not even $2 per person, per year on mental health. On the other hand, higher-income nations like the US, Spain, Singapore and Qatar spend $58.73 per person annually.
It was also found that less number of functioning mental health promotion and prevention programs were found.
