Residents protest against alleged killing of a local by police in Patna
Patna, Nov 5 : Scores of residents in Patna protested against the alleged killing of a man, Sudhir Rai, by the police on Thursday.
According to reports, a team of policemen who were patrolling the banks of river Ganga in connection with a case, found Rai moving in suspicious circumstances. The policemen called him for questioning. But instead, he jumped into the river and died.
However, protestors claim that the police recovered no incriminating material from Rai and threw him into the river when he was unable to answer their questions.
“Nothing incriminating was recovered from him. After that they (policemen) started questioning him, which he had no clue about. Then the policemen threw him in river Ganga. There were six policemen in plain clothes and were armed,” said Anil Kumar, a protestor.
The protestors raised slogans against the state police and broke windowpanes of vehicles in the vicinity of their locality. (ANI)
