The nationwide private FM radio operated by Adlabs Films Limited, owned by the Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group – Big FM launched its FM station in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, on Friday, 10 July 2009. The FM station in Shimla was launched by the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal.

The launch of FM station in Shimla expanded the number of FM stations of Big FM to 45 across India. With the launch of FM station in Shimla, Big FM completed the phase II of its expansion in India, and the Reliance ADA Group became the first private player in the FM radio market of Himachal Pradesh.

The Shimla FM station is aimed to broadcast programs based on popular culture of Shimla and Himachal Pradesh. The programs will be entertaining as well as informative. The programs will be aired for around 17 hours in a day for the time being. Reliance has promised to expand the service to 24 hours in the coming months. Reliance Big FM in Himachal Pradesh is available at 91.9 FM.

Every morning, the broadcast will begin with devotional music from 6am to 7 am, followed by “BIG Chai” with RJ Shalini from 7am to 11 am. “Aap ki Khatir,” a special 3-hour request show, will be broadcasted from 11am to 2 pm daily. RJ Satya’s on-air show “BIG Geri” will be aired every day from 2 pm to 5 pm. Other programs will include “Citi Baje Ke,” a show by RJ Pankaj, from 5 pm to 9 pm, and RJ Sophie’s “9 Baje ki Setting” from 9 pm to 11 pm.  

With main tagline “Suno Sunao, Life Banao,” Big FM entertains over 200 million people in 1,000 towns and 50,000 villages across India.
