South African election begins with overseas vote Johannesburg - South Africa's fourth democratic election since the end of the Apartheid era began on Wednesday morning with the opening of polls for overseas voters. Some 16,200 registered South African voters living abroad can cast their vote in the country's embassies between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm local time. Almost half of those registered voters are in Britain, according to the South African electoral commission.

Confederation Cup ticket sales given a boost Johannesburg - Ticket sales for the 2009 Confederations Cup in South Africa were given a boost Monday with the news that international specialist banking group, Investec, has purchased 50,000 tickets for the tournament. The tickets, valued at 3.5 million rand (388,000 dollars) across various ticket categories, will be distributed amongst the company's staff and to deserving local communities, Investec revealed.
