 Sun TV Rolls Out Its FM Station At Siliguri Sun TV Network, promoted by Kalanidhi Maran, set up its FM Radio Station at Siliguri of West Bengal under the brand 'S FM' from 28 October through its subsidiary South Asia FM Ltd.

The listeners of Siliguri can tune to the station at 93.5 MHz frequency.

The South Indian company believes that the programs of the station will cater to the needs of all age groups.

With this, the total number of operational FM Stations of Sun TV has gone up to 43. The company holds licenses for 45 FM radio stations across India.

Elephant killed by goods train in West Bengal

west bengalSiliguri, Oct 5 : An elephant was killed by a goods train near Rajabhat Khawo area of the Bauxa Tiger Reserve Forest of Cooch Bihar District of West-Bengal on early Sunday morning.

According to the forest officials, while crossing the railway track, the elephant collided with the speeding train. The animal was crossing the forest from 21, basti area of the forestland to the other part of the forest. It died soon after colliding with the train.

As a result of the accident, two coaches of the train were also derailed.

The DRM of the East Frontier Railway, R. K. Sinha, along with other officials immediately rushed to the spot.

India shares a 4,096-km long border with Bangladesh. Of this West Bengal shares the longest border of approximately 2,216-km, most of which is porous, unfenced and prone to frequent skirmishes and infiltration.

He, along with popular Bollywood singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, was taking part in a programme organised on Saturday in Siliguri to collect funds for flood victims.

Darjeeling tea workers on strike over wage increase

Siliguri, Aug 12 : Thousands of tea plantation workers in Darjeeling went on strike on Monday demanding higher wages. They have threatened to step up their protests, which could endanger the output of premium brews.

The Coordination Committee for Plantation Workers (CCPW) and the Defence Committee of Plantation Workers Rights (DCPWR) is leading the strike.

Workers said the shutdown would continue if their demands were not met.

"We will continue our strike if our demands are not fulfilled," said Bani Roy, a tea worker.

The trade union have threatened to launch an indefinite strike from August 18 if their meeting on thr wage revision of tea workers fail.
