Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon said that it means health boards will have the resources they need to progress their plans and offer a first class service to patients across Scotland."

She added: "With nearly £400m for NHS building projects across Scotland, it also shows that this government will do everything within its power to support sectors of our economy, like construction, that are suffering most during the recession."

The Prime Minister is among a number of politicians who have named their favourite foods for a fundraising book in aid of the Donaldson''s school for the deaf in Edinburgh.

Brown has claimed in the book that he got a taste for the dish as a boy, recalling how he would come back from watching Raith Rovers matches to find the dish on the table, prepared by his mother, reports the Scotsman.

The book reveals that his `economical' eating habits are shared by his fellow politicians too.

Treasure hunters uncover Roman tombstone in Scotland

London, Nov 23 : Treasure hunters have unearthed the first Roman tombstone in Scotland for more than 170 years, among other rare artifacts that were dug up at the site.

According to a report by BBC News, the red sandstone artifact was found by enthusiast Larney Cavanagh at the edge of a field near Inveresk in Scotland.

The artefact was for a man called Crescens, a bodyguard for the governor who ran the province of Britain for the Roman Emperor.

It forms part of Scotland''s annual Treasure Trove, items found by archaeologists or enthusiasts which have been handed to the Crown Office.

Other pieces include a 5,000-year-old axe head, a Bronze Age sword and mysterious carved stone balls.
