In a declaration, John Kenny, Rotary International president-elect said, “Rotary has committed 200 million dollars to polio eradication in the next three years and we hope to see the world free of polio by 2012.”

Kenny, who was in Pune for two-days, made this announcement during a press meeting on Friday.

Kenny also said that all projects backed by Rotary in the zone will never be short of funds and Rotary has committed $200 million to polio annihilation within the next 3 years and wish a polio free world by 2012.

Pune, Apr 11 : Maharashtra police on Saturday arrested a sharp-shooter of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.

Asif Mohammad Shaikh alias Asif Dadhi, an alleged associate of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, has been sent to a two-day police custody.

Many cases of murder, attempt to murder and ransom have been registered against Dadhi.

International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, plans to invest €135 million in Volkswagen India's plant in Pune.

Under the proposed deal, IFC will provide a loan of up to €60 million from its own account and a syndicated loan of up to €75 million.

It should be noted that Volkswagen India's has recently inaugurated its plant at Chakan. The facility which is being set up at a cost of €580 million has a capacity of 1.10 lakh units a year.
