Patna, Mar 13 : A massive raid in the Bihar''s Siwan Jail led to the recovery of Rs 13,000 allegedly from Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Mohammad Shahabuddin, who is undergoing life imprisonment in a kidnapping and suspected murder case.

According to official sources, the raid conducted by a team led by Superintendent of Police Amit Jain also led to seizure of five mobile phones, ganja and perfume bottles from the bush behind ward number 21 and 24.

The raid that began at 5: am is still continuing.

Shahabuddin was sentenced to life imprisonment on May 8, 2007 in connection with the kidnapping and suspected murder of CPI-ML worker Chote Lal Gupta.

Patna /Jaipur, Mar 8: Former Indian captain Saurav Ganguly has said the attack on the Sri Lankan players in Pakistan was as a cause for worry for the game.

"It is terrible for the game of cricket where players are attacked by terrorists. I think their job is to represent the country and play the sport," Ganguly said on the sidelines of a function in Patna.

The attack has cast a security shadow on Indian Premier League (IPL).

Patna, Mar 7 : Ahead of the International Women's Day, the girl students on Saturday organised an awareness campaign to educate women about their rights.

International Women's day is celebrated all over the world on March 8.

Girl Students held placards and banners to establish the equality of human beings irrespective of sex and other differences, and to secure women's entitlement to fundamental human rights.

Patna, Mar 7 : The Election commission has given the Bihar Government a 24 hour ultimatum to relieve all officers who have been transferred but not relieved after completing 3 to 4 years into a district.

The Chief Election Commissioner, N. Gopalaswamy made it clear that there should be no exception and District Magistrates not following the Election Commission Diktat would have to face action.

Patna, Mar 5 : Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on Thursday, went to watch ''Slumdog Millionare'', the Oscar winning rags-to-riches movie, on a cycle-rickshaw.

Kumar, however, claims that it was no publicity stunt and the decision was his personal choice.

After watching the movie with great interest, Kumar appreciated it saying that the film would spread a positive message especially among the poor people of the country, which would encourage them to achieve something in life.

Patna, Mar 5 : Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalswami and two Election Commissioners Navin Chawla and S Y Quraishi will arrive in Patna tomorrow to review the poll preparedness for the coming Lok Sabha polls.

During their visit, the team will have separate meeting with the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of the state.

The Commission is scheduled to hold meeting with all DMs and SPs of the state to review the readiness to hold the elections in a free and fair manner.
