Altaf demands public hanging of culprits behind flogging of Swat girlKarachi, Apr 6 : Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has asked President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Interior Adviser Rehman Malik to publicly hang those who had flogged a young girl in Swat.

He made this demand while delivering a telephonic address on Sunday at a MQM women wing's rally at the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammed Ali Jinnah.

Mehsud’s friends in ISI help him escape attacks, capture

Baitullah MehsudLahore, Apr 6: Tehreek-I-Taliban Pakistan chief Baitullah Mehsud has been able to escape several attempts to kill and capture him because he has friends in the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency.

Multan, Apr 6 : Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said no foreign military would be allowed to set foot in the country and law enforcement agencies will conduct anti-terrorism operations inside the country.

Qureshi told reporters here that during his recent visit to Washington, he had conveyed to the US that NATO would not be allowed to conduct operations in Pakistan. They have understood our point of view and accepted it, he added.

He said that the US has introduced a bill worth 10.5 billion dollars for Pakistan, which comprises 7.5 billion dollars as economic assistance and 3 billion dollars for military assistance.

Taliban militants came in around a dozen luxurious vehicles, entering the Gokand Valley and occupied several hujras in different villages. Some local supporters who are associated with different religious groups joined them.

Gilani told the Tribune-Review that the country's critics do not understand the war's complexities or "the price we are paying."

"The Afghanistan-Pakistan border is such a difficult situation that even the United States and NATO forces are fighting... there for the last five and a half years, with what results?" Gilani asked.
