Zardari to US: Give us the drones and we will take out the militants ourselves''

PPP co-chairman Asif Ali ZardariLondon, Apr. 8 : Pakistan''s embattled President Asif Ali Zardari has urged America to provide his country with drones and missiles and in return promised to take out the militants in the country.

In an interview with The Independent, Zardari said Pakistan had made it clear that it was willing to "take out high-value targets on our own, and we welcome the technology and intelligence assistance that will give us the ability to succeed".

"We have no plans to join the PPP-led government in the Centre," Sharif told reporters after his meeting with US Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke and Chairman of US Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen in Islamabad.

Musharraf’s sedition petition filed again in Pak Supreme CourtLahore, Apr. 8 : Advocate Zahid Malik, whose petition seeking the trial of former President General Pervez Musharraf was thrown away by the Supreme Court, has filed the petition once again.

"I have re-filed the petition after removing all four objections that the SC Registrar Office had raised," The Daily Times quoted Malik, as saying.

Earlier, the Supreme Court Registrar Dr Faqir Hussain had returned the petition with four major objections.

Archaeologists find earthenware pottery from 7000-2000 BC in PakistanIslamabad, April 8 : Archaeologists have recently found earthenware pottery from 7000-2000 BC, in excavations that took place at Sohr Damb/Nal, a prehistoric site in Balochistan, a province in Pakistan.

According to a report in the Daily Times, the finding was made by Dr Ute Franke, a German archaeologist, who has been following the prehistoric sites in Balochistan since 1981.
