Sharif would talk to India if Mumbai like attacks took place in Pakistan

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif Lahore, Apr. 12 : While India has taken a tough stance scrapping all bilateral talks with Pakistan in the wake of the November 2008 Mumbai terror attacks ,former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that he would have initiated talks with the neighbouring country if such an incident had occurred on his own soil.

Musharraf says Obama’s AFPAK policy incomplete without IndiaBeijing, Apr. 12 : Former Pakistan President General (retired) Pervez Musharraf has said that the US President Barack Obama's revamped AFPAK policy is incomplete without India, and a solution to the Kashmir issue.

Replying to queries following his lecture at the Shanghai Institute for International Studies here, Musharrraf said nothing was new in Obama's policy, and it was a continuation of US's older strategies for the region.

Pak’s FATA terror safe havens root cause of Afghan’s instability : HolbrookWashington, Apr. 12 : The US Special envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke, has said that the western tribal areas of Pakistan, the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) were the root cause of Afghanistan's instability.

Holbrooke said the region was a safe haven for extremists, and if destroyed, peace could return to Afghanistan in a relatively short period of time.

Taliban rocket attack destroys ten NATO supply vehicles in PeshawarPeshawar, Apr. 12 : At least ten NATO supply trucks were destroyed on Sunday when some unidentified militants fired rockets at the NATO supply terminal located on the Ring Road here.

According to The News, several rockets were fired at the terminal, igniting a major fire which engulfed the supply laden vehicles.

Several fire tenders were pressed in to service to douse the fire. The fire fighters were struggling to overcome the flames till reports last came-in.

Pakistan's top security official Rehman Malik told reporters that his country wanted the "full credentials of those who have been arrested, what charges, what evidence, so that we can verify whether they are Pakistanis or not."

Nine shot dead as riots continue in south-western Pakistan Islamabad - At least nine people, including a policeman, were killed Saturday as the riots over the assassination of three ethnic political leaders continued for a third day in Pakistan's south-western Balochistan province. A police official said the bodies of six coal miners were found in outskirts of provincial capital Quetta.

"The attackers first kidnapped the poor labourers, shot them dead and dumped their bodies in the mountains in Marwar area," police investigator Barkatullah Khan said.
