US Senator Kerry meets Zardari, Gilani

PakistanIslamabad, Apr. 13 : The Chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator John Kerry met President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani here on Monday.

Officials privy to the talks between Kerry and Gilani were quoted by the Dawn as saying that the Pakistan Prime Minister had told Senator Kerry that Pakistan does not want the US to base its aid on conditions linked to the campaign against militancy.

Pak to launch first indigenous communications satellite in 2011

PakistanKarachi, Apr. 13 : Pakistan’s Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) will launch the country’s first indigenously developed communications satellite on August 14, 2011.

SUPARCO Director Dr. Mohammad Riaz Suddle revealed that the life span of the satellite would be 15 years, and would be launched at a longitude of 38 degrees and at an altitude of 36,000 kilometres above the Earth’s surface.

Pak questions construction of Kishan Ganga Dam by IndiaLahore, Apr. 13 : Pakistan has once again questioned the construction of the Kishan Ganga Dam across the Indus River by India.

Addressing a `Pak-India Water Disputes' seminar here, Indus Water Treaty Commissioner Syed Jamaat Ali Shah said Islamabad has conveyed its concerns to New Delhi.

"India could construct only those dams that were included in the Indus Water Treaty," The Daily Times quoted Shah, as saying.

Pak tells US it cannot cross its limits in war on terror

PakistanIslamabad, Apr. 13 : Pakistan has told the United States that it cannot cross its limits for the war on terror.

“Pakistan told the US that Islamabad has its own limits in war on terror and it cannot cross it,” The News quoted , Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, as saying.

Qureshi also blamed India for strengthening the hands of the terrorists by putting the blame on Pakistan.

Answering a question on the ISI’s link with the Taliban, he said Pakistan’s positive role in war against extremism would not have been possible without the help of the ISI.
