Islamabad, Apr. 13 : The Chairman of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Senator John Kerry met President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani here on Monday.
Officials privy to the talks between Kerry and Gilani were quoted by the Dawn as saying that the Pakistan Prime Minister had told Senator Kerry that Pakistan does not want the US to base its aid on conditions linked to the campaign against militancy.
Karachi, Apr. 13 : Pakistan cricket team coach Intikhab Alam is banking upon captain Younus Khan to succeed against Australia in the forthcoming UAE series.
"For me, Younus will be our key man. He is such a positive man, a true leader who has injected a much-needed team spirit among the boys," Alam said referring to Khan's forecast of a five-nil Australian white wash in the series.
Karachi, Apr. 13 : Pakistan’s Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) will launch the country’s first indigenously developed communications satellite on August 14, 2011.
SUPARCO Director Dr. Mohammad Riaz Suddle revealed that the life span of the satellite would be 15 years, and would be launched at a longitude of 38 degrees and at an altitude of 36,000 kilometres above the Earth’s surface.
Lahore, Apr. 13 : Former Pakistan captain Waqar Younis has raised questions over the rebel Indian Cricket League (ICL) players' commitment to national duty.
"I am a strong believer that a cricketer should be permitted to play anywhere, but in this case, I think, somewhere there is a doubt," Younis said.
He charged the ICL players of putting the country's reputation on a back seat while joining an unauthorized league.
Lahore, Apr. 13 : Pakistan has once again questioned the construction of the Kishan Ganga Dam across the Indus River by India.
Addressing a `Pak-India Water Disputes' seminar here, Indus Water Treaty Commissioner Syed Jamaat Ali Shah said Islamabad has conveyed its concerns to New Delhi.
"India could construct only those dams that were included in the Indus Water Treaty," The Daily Times quoted Shah, as saying.
