Islamabad, Mar. 9: Air Marshal ao Qamar Suleman has been appointed the new Chief of Air Staff (CAS) of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) by President Asif Ali Zardari, The Daily Times reports.

Islamabad (dpa) - Pakistani troops killed at least 19 Taliban militants and injured scores of others in two overnight clashes in the country's troubled north-western tribal region that borders Afghanistan, government officials said Monday.

Helicopter gunships pounded rebel hideouts in Mohmand district Sunday afternoon, hours after insurgents killed 14 tribal policemen.

London, Mar. 9: Notwithstanding the wide spread call of boycott by the international cricket community after the Lahore terror attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has vowed to co-host the 2011 World Cup.

Putting aside all the apprehensions by the international cricket associations, the PCB chairman, Ijaz Butt has said that Pakistan would be hosting an international team in the coming six to nine months, and that it will be hosting the 2011 World Cup.

Kuala Lumpur  - Pakistani nationals are generally not interested in working in Malaysia due to perceived lower wages and perks compared to the Middle East, a Pakistani envoy said Monday.

Only 21,000 Pakistani workers came to Malaysia in the last six years, following a labour pact signed by both countries which was supposed to see 100,000 workers brought in, said Nadeem Ashraf, labour attache with the Pakistani High Commission in Kuala Lumpur.

"Pakistani workers prefer to work in the Middle East countries where wages are very attractive and work conditions better.

"Moreover, it is also nearer home," Ashraf told the official Bernama news agency.

Lahore, Mar. 9: The United States has expressed its concern over the presence of the outlawed terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba’s (LeT) on its soil.

US intelligence agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), are alarmed over evidence of continued LeT’s presence on US soil, including back-up cells in Pakistan, especially after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

According to sources, officials are of the view that LeT’s global nexus may prove more dangerous for the security of US than al-Qaeda.

Former Deputy National Security Adviser for counter-terrorism, Juan Zarate also admitted that LeT has bases across the world, including the United States.
