Benazir wants military and economic sanctions against Pak: Elahi

Lahore, Nov 15: Pakistan Punjab province Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has said that former premier Benazir Bhutto wants military and economic sanctions to be imposed on the country.

Elahi said that Bhutto is putting the country’s survival at ‘stake’, and added that she had opposed the Kala Bagh Dam and wanted to harm the agriculture sector.

He said when Pakistan was facing a natural disaster in October 2005, Bhutto did not bother about the victims of the earthquake.

Elahi was addressing public meetings at the Government High School Hafizabad and Dullah Bhatti Chowk, Pindi Bhattian.

Imran Khan faces death penalty after being charged under Pakistan's anti-terror laws

London, Nov. 15: Former cricketer-turned politician Imran Khan could get the death penalty after being charged with violating Pakistan’s anti-terror laws.

According to the Daily Mail, Imran was charged under Pakistan's Anti-Terrorism Act on Wednesday night and is expected to be held in detention for several days before initially being returned to house arrest.

No details of the specific charges were given, but offences under the Act can result in the death sentence or life imprisonment.

Police official Aftab Cheema said: "He created a law and order situation... and caused a disruption in educational activities. "
