She recently took in two cocker spaniel puppies Ivan and Sadie from the PAWS Shelter in Chicago, Illinois.

Winfrey lost Ivan on March 11 after the two puppies got infected with parvovirus.

Sadie is being treated by animal specialists in a bid to cure her canine disease.

"I''m saddened by his passing, though we only had him for a weekend," the New York Daily News quoted Winfrey as saying in a statement.
