Kuala Lumpur  - Malaysian opposition lawmakers from the northern state of Perak held an emergency meeting Tuesday under a tree after police blocked them from entering the state parliament in a political drama that has gripped the nation for more than a month.

A minor scuffle broke out when 28 legislators from the People's Alliance along with supporters arrived at the state assembly building, only to be blocked by supporters of the ruling National Front coalition.

Riot police had earlier set up road blocks leading to the building and had told the opposition lawmakers they were not allowed to enter.

Kuala Lumpur  - A Malaysian man foiled his own attempted burglary when he left a trail of engine oil from a farm where he stole two generator sets back to his home, a news report said Tuesday.

The man was believed to have broken into the farm in the southern state of Johor early Sunday, and drove off with the generators, the Star daily said.

Farm owner Chia Kok Guan said workers found a trail of black oil on the dirt road, and followed it to a house located about 1 kilometre away.

Petaling Jaya (Malaysia), Mar. 2 : Penang Deputy Chief Minister P. Ramasamy has asked Malaysian Indian Congress President S. Samy Vellu to provide details about the several financial scandals linked to the party.

“He (Samy Vellu) can choose a date and hold a meeting to explain this to the people,” the Star quoted Ramasamy, as saying.

The scandals involve Maika Holdings, the Maju Institute of Educational Development and the Koperasi Pekerja Jaya Berhad.

Kuala Lumpur, Mar 2 : Malaysia''s Director-General for Immigration, Mahmood Adam, has said that the 43 Indian nationals detained here would return home this week.

"Forty-three nationals, who have been languishing in an Immigration detention depot for nearly two months, will be sent in batches between Thursday and Saturday," NST Online quoted Adam as saying.

Their employer had purchased flights tickets for them and they will be sent through Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang, Adam added.

He further said that another eight Indian nationals, who were part of the group and who were not detained, were making a claim against their employer for unpaid salaries.

Kuala Lumpur, Feb. 28 : Malaysian Chinese Association has urged the government to lift the condition on the usage of word "Allah" in Christian Publications.

MCA Political education Bureau head Gan Ping Sieu said condition usage of "Allah" in print form was unacceptable and an affront to common sense.

Kuala Lumpur, Feb. 28 : A charge by the sister of the late Malay Indian Hemalatha Kasippillai that the Malaysian Consulate General in Mumbai had not been in touch with the aggrieved family, has been rejected by Consulate General Wisma.

Hemalatha's sister Ratna Raja had claimed that Wisma Putra did not make any attempt to communicate with any family member regarding the progress or developments in the wake of the tragedy, or assist them in bringing back the body.

She said all communication was initiated by Hemalatha''s relatives, who left her contact number with the Consul-General in Mumbai.
